About this event

MHALA’s adult Mental Health First Aid course is appropriate for those who want to learn how to help a person who may be experiencing a mental health-related crisis or problem.

This training is free to adults who live or work in Long Beach, Calif.

WHAT IT COVERS

• Common signs and symptoms of mental health challenges.

• Common signs and symptoms of substance use challenges.

• How to interact with a person in crisis.

• How to connect a person with help.

• Expanded content on trauma, substance use, and self-care

Attendees complete a 2-hour, self-paced online course, and participate in a 6-hour, instructor-led training held via Zoom.

This training is brought to you through a grant from the Kaiser Permanente South Bay Medical Center Community Benefit Grants Program. 

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to complete the 2-hour course prior to the online training?

Yes, all attendees are required to attend the 2-hour online course as a prerequisite to attending the 6-hour Zoom training. Information about the 2-hour online course will be sent to you after registration via the National Council for Mental Wellbeing.

Will there be a lunch break during the Zoom training?

There will be a one-hour lunch break during the Zoom training. A final agenda will be sent closer to the day of the training.
